Using the map
Your country selections and export language are saved in this browser’s localStorage so you can return to your map. No email is stored in localStorage. You can clear your selections using Reset Map, or remove all saved settings through your browser.
Shareable links include only country codes. Anyone with your link can see those selections. Standard hosting logs may contain IP addresses and request information, depending on the hosting provider’s settings.
Creating an official download
We store the name and normalized email you provide, your selected countries, calculated travel score, ranking choice, a random public identifier, and creation and update timestamps. Your email identifies your download record. Another submission with the same email updates that record. Email ownership is not verified in this version; downloads are self-reported travel records.
Your email is never included in exported images, shareable links, or the public leaderboard. Images are created in your browser and contain your name and travel statistics. We do not upload the generated image. Form details are sent to our server when you generate an official map.
Optional public ranking
Joining Top Travellers is optional and unchecked by default. If you opt in, your name, travel percentage, and country count may appear publicly. The public API also returns a random public identifier and last update time. It never includes your email, internal database ID, or country list. Submit again with the same email and the ranking option unchecked to leave the ranking. Changes appear when the leaderboard is loaded again. Administrators can hide, correct, or delete misleading entries. An administrator correction is preserved on later submissions; you can still withdraw your ranking consent by submitting with that option unchecked.
Security and retention
We count page views using a random visitor-session identifier held only in page memory. Reloading or opening a new tab creates a new session. We do not use analytics cookies or fingerprinting, and do not store IP addresses in analytics events. We also count successful map generations, PNG/JPG download button clicks, and image-file shares. Download activity uses an internal record identifier to count separate downloaders; aggregate event history can remain after a record is deleted. These statistics are available only to the administrator. Administrators use a separate, protected login cookie that expires after eight hours.
Submission validation and temporary request limits help protect the service. Rate-limit counters use a hashed request address when a trusted proxy is configured and expire after ten minutes. Download records remain until you request deletion or the operator removes them. Hosting and backup retention depend on the deployment configuration.
Request deletion
Email hello@nordicatech.se from the address used for your download and ask to delete your EuroTravelMap record. We may need to verify your request. Removing your server record does not remove images or links already shared by you, or settings stored in your browser.
